Gas Station Attendant’s Oil Price Talk Goes Viral
A gas station attendant in Zamboanga City went viral after clearly explaining rising fuel prices. Cum Laude graduate Alkindar Amil impressed netizens.

A gas station attendant in Zamboanga City went viral after clearly explaining rising fuel prices to a motorist. The video posted by RMN Zamboanga quickly spread online.

It started with a simple question: “Bakit mahal na naman ang gasolina?”

The motorist likely expected a short answer. Instead, he received a calm and detailed explanation from the attendant himself.

In a video shared by RMN Zamboanga, gas station supervisor Alkindar “Khinz” J. Amil explained why fuel prices continue to increase. The clip quickly caught the attention of social media users across the country.

Rather than giving a vague reply, Amil broke down the issue in simple but informative terms. He pointed to global crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions affecting supply, and the impact of foreign exchange rates on petroleum products in the Philippines.

What surprised many viewers was not just his explanation, but his background.

Amil is a graduate of Mindanao State University in Sulu, where he finished Cum Laude in 2016. His academic record also shows consistent performance from an early age.

He placed Top 7 during his elementary years at Tanjung Elementary School and again ranked Top 7 in high school at Jolo School of Fisheries. His academic achievements continued in college, culminating in graduating with honors.

Despite his strong academic credentials, Amil currently works as a gas station supervisor in Zamboanga City. Yet his viral moment has become a powerful reminder that education and intelligence are not always tied to job titles.

Many Filipinos online praised him for explaining a complex economic issue in a way ordinary people could understand.

The Philippines imports most of its fuel supply, meaning local pump prices are heavily influenced by global oil markets. When crude prices rise internationally, or when the peso weakens against the US dollar, fuel costs in the country often increase as well.

These factors were exactly what Amil highlighted in the viral video — calmly sharing knowledge while doing his daily work at the gas station.

His story resonated with many viewers who believe that talent and intelligence often go unnoticed in unexpected places.

Across the Philippines, there are many people like Amil — educated, capable, and knowledgeable — working in roles far removed from what society may expect from someone with academic honors.

But the viral moment shows something deeper: knowledge can be shared anywhere.

It does not always come from a podium, a classroom, or a government office. Sometimes, it comes from the person helping you at the fuel pump.

And for many Filipinos who watched the video, Alkindar “Khinz” J. Amil became a symbol of quiet excellence — proof that education remains valuable wherever life takes you.
